The tree stood next to a pathway in Center Parcs, Cumbria. It was covered with a fine lattice of webs which hung between the branches. Hardly a green leaf was left upon it as they had all been eaten by thousands of moth larvae which covered every inch of the tree.
Long fine ropes of web hung down, some touching the ground beneath, and lines of larvae were marching up and down, going about their daily business of survival.
Children dared each other to run underneath the branches…often shrieking with laughter and covering their heads with their hands in case the creatures dropped down upon them.
