While undertaking a bit of research around Princes Park, I called in to take a look at Madryn Street. The debate is still going on surrounding the future of the Welsh streets as they are known, and it was rather a shame to see them in such a poor condition; but seeing the houses today with my own eyes reminded me of my early life growing up in my gran and grandad’s house in Hughson Street, not so far away from this place. Number 9 in the foreground was where Ringo Starr lived prior to fame and fortune coming his way. Beatles fans from all over the world come to visit the famous two-up/two-down which is one of the properties which are scheduled to be saved, so in the future it will be nice for them to perhaps walk inside and take a look around. All they can do at the moment is to write their names on the security screens, or chip yet another little bit out of the windowsill at the front!
