75/365 - THE TWENTIETH CENTURY

a bust of an early aviator entitled “The Twentieth Century”, sculpted by Mary Pownall Bromet (1889 to 1932). The piece was first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1928. It was presented to the Isle of Man Government by Air Vice-Marshal Sir Geoffrey Bromet, the former Lieutenant Governor of the island, on 7 September 1952. The sculpture now stands in the departures hall of Ronaldsway Airport.
