Detail of the hotel and museum buildings, Great Malvern, Worcestershire, earlier today. Standing on the site of a Benedictine Monastery and lodging house, the present building was built in 1848 after the previous lodging house was demolished. In 1757 full board for a week in the lodging house would have set you back a princely 15 shillings. The current best price available at the hotel will cost you anything between 90 to 160 pounds per night! I wonder if the 1757 price included breakfast? 😉
