TRAIN LINES - PRINCES DOCK, LIVERPOOL

Our history is all around us, if we open our eyes and look around hard enough to find it.

This photo, taken in September 2013, shows sets of cobbles and former train lines near the Princes Dock, Liverpool.

The area lies on open land between two of the new modern dock developments alongside Bath Street and is open and accessible to the public, and it is used as an occasional car park.

The lines themselves were used by the small saddle-tank engines which ferried goods wagons in and out between the dockside warehouses – the footprints of which can still be seen on portions of the ground.
